ABC News reports: China's Communist Party accused of influencing Australia's Chinese-language media


Tendentious and circumstantial seems to be the modus operandi of the 21st century version of “reds under the beds” campaigns. Conspiracy theories tend to rely on claims that are fundamentally non-falsifiable, and circumstantial ‘dot joining’ and innuendo falls into this category.


Australia has a more challenging media problem than this, and that’s the concentration of ownership of the national print and electronic broadcast landscape that is itself a propaganda machine.


As for the authors of this report, referenced by the ABC, it is on the register of foreign influence and receives the bulk of its funding from American corporates with direct links and interests to armaments and the Australian Department of Defence. Find out more at this link.
