❓How to stay in contact with my Chinese LinkedIn Contacts after LinkedIn's "sunset" in China?❓
LinkedIn is a successful social business platform for all of us.
❓All of us? Let’s face it, Linkedin was not successful in China: Linkedin gathered about 50 Mio. Users in China.
➡️ Linkedin failed with its Two-Brand Localisation Strategy of its local App #ChiTu (from 2015 to 2019)
➡️ LinkedIn had challenges following the #regulations and the #data handling in China.
Subsequently, LinkedIn announced the "sunset" for this market.
➡️ The parent company Microsoft is still interested in the Chinese market, for example, MS Office, Windows, and the search engine BING.
❓How is LinkedIn used in China❓
LinkedIn users in China utilized the platform only in an international context. There is nearly no relevance for local Chinese business.
❓Aren’t foreign companies in China valuable partners❓
➡️ Foreign Companies in China have other options to reach out to Chinese users. For marketing activities, there is #WeChat, #Weibo, #RED, #Zhihu, and others.
➡️ As a business network, there are options like #Maimai or #WeWork.
➡️ And finally, for the job market, platforms like #ZhiLian, #LiePin, #51jobs, and others are the go-to options and competitors to the new launches Chinese version of InJobs.
❓How shall I connect with my current, Chinese Linkedin Contacts❓
➡️ Just use WeChat, comprehensive, and - most important to me - the translation function is very good, but there are other international versions of Chinese Platforms, too.
➡️ And there are still the options for Chinese users with international outreach to stay on the English version of LinkedIn, although it gets a bit more complicated.
However, there are hand-picked Asian platforms, like RCN Asia. Based in Australia and New Zealand but with strong ties into the Chinese market. And I feel good with platforms that follow values.
The combination of #RCNAsia with the English Version of LinkedIn is what I will choose as a solution. RCN Asia has the opportunity to grow. That is worth considering.

Thanks Helen. Understanding that this was coming, we developed RCN Asia and the Asia Engage App to replace the loss of Linkedin in China. We encourage people to sign up free now via https://www.rcn.asia/signup
Unlike Facebook, Google Chrome which can still be accessed through VPN from China, LinkedIn has been completely blocked! This ‘wall“ does not stop China from rising higher and higher but tells how the western world refuses to accept it. 😀
As a local chinese i saw the value the RCN provided , which is the founder tries to make people feel closer
